The news of the acquisition of the KM Mill Group and the Harris Tweed Mill, Parkend by Brian Haggas is welcomed and strongly supported by us at Harris Tweed Textiles.

Harris Tweed as a product and as a brand has huge untapped potential but in recent years has been in severe decline due to failings in leadership and direction, lack of innovation and constant, well documented infighting within the industry.

The opportunity now exists to build a long-term future for the industry and the largely neglected self-employed weavers. There are now just two Harris Tweed producers left, the newly formed Haggas Group and ourselves, now the only independent Harris Tweed producer.

We are confident that relationships within the industry can now improve and that Harris Tweed as a product can be developed with the willingness of the weavers to push the capabilities of the new 150 cm loom and allow the fabric demand to go from strength to strength. Whilst we welcome legitimate competition, for the industry to succeed, to grow and to compete in world markets requires the industry to work together, to be proactive, resourceful and innovative.

Our new online tweed shop has a range of our most popular designs in a cut length stock supported bunch. We are the only Harris Tweed producer offering this service direct to individual customers.

We will also offer "Star buy" clearance lines throughout the season from production over runs on a first come
