HTT (Manufacturing) Ltd (HTT) is a textile company dedicated to the pursuit of quality, product innovation and differentiation and to ensuring that the needs and expectations of agents and customers seeking Harris Tweed are met.
In the early part of 2009 we completely overhauled our mill in Carloway on the Isle of Lewis. We improved the fabric and structure of our buildings, we upgraded our existing plant and equipment and bought and installed machinery capable of both significantly increasing our capacity but also of spinning and carding to levels of softness and lightness never seen historically in the Harris Tweed industry.
As we enter the 2009/10 season our level of customer and agent requests for samples and swatches are at an unprecedented level across our various products. Demand is strong for our traditional ranges of Harris Tweed fabrics ranging from Standard weight (310/340 g/mt) available only in single width (71/73cm) to Lightweight available in both single width (71/73 cm) at approx 250/280 g/mt and double width (150 cm) 515/570 g/mt to featherweight available in both single width (71/73cm) 216/240 g/mt and double width (150 cm) 450/470 g/mt.But the highest level of enquiry and demand for swatches and samples is for our new Lambswool Ultra light Harris Tweed
This is the lightest fabric which can be produced within the current Harris Tweed Authority thread density requirement and is aimed at the top end of the fashion industry where soft/light fabrics are the requirement. It is available exclusively from ourselves in Single width (71/73cm) and Double width (150cm) at approximately 160/180 g/mt Single width 340 g/mt double width. Because of the technology involved we are the only operational Harris Tweed Mill capable of spinning and carding to these demanding tolerances whilst preserving the quality required to call the product Harris Tweed.
We are also delighted to announce that we are working with Betty Davies, one of the UK's leading fashion and textile designers and have produced with her the "Betty Davies Heritage Collection" of Harris Tweed which we believe will appeal to customers interested in top end designer fashion.
